The Carey Group, established in 1969, is a leading multi-disciplined Construction and Resource Management Group with a

turnover in excess of £400million, operating across the UK and Ireland. Careys deliver innovative, safe and sustainable solutions

to the most complex construction and resource management challenges. We were invited to create a new brand image

and corporate identity programme, then roll it out across all stationery, brochures, web and extensive machine plant.

 

A new look for a tired brand

 

We were initially asked to design a suite of brochures for

this well established London based construction company.

We felt the brand was tired looking and in need of a re-brand

before we did that. The board of directors were hard-nosed

construction workers, unfamiliar with brand designers

and eyed us with some scepticism. We persuaded them

we knew our subject and so they agreed to allow us to do

a full brand audit and make recommendations for a new

corporate identity and marketing package.

The Three C’s

 

It became very clear from our research and brand audit that

the core of the Careys brand is the family and its values. The

company was established by three Carey brothers and they

wanted the brand to symbolise this close-knit family unit.

Our solution was to construct a distinctive brand built of

three typographical C’s, one for each of the brothers. By

keeping the corporate colour scheme we maintained a link

to the past but with a fresh new look. It was universally

embraced by the brothers - their scepticism fully allayed.
